The New Orleans area finds itself in a typical summer forecast pattern as we inch towards Independence Day.
It'll be hot and humid for the next week, with rain chances staying relatively high through the middle of the coming work week. Daytime heating will lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms across the region, so we'll keep rain chances between 40 and 60 percent for the next five days, with the highest precipitation changes coming on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rain chances are also elevated today and tomorrow, with a 50-percent chance of storms. Those storms will likely form in the mid- to late-afternoon hours on both days.
The Gulf Coast could receive between two to three inches of rain over the next seven days, so beware if you're planning a beach trip for the coming week.
Temperature-wise, we'll see our highs top out in the lower- to mid-90s with heat indices getting into the triple digits. If you're planning on being outside, make sure you take frequent breaks to get into the shade or into air conditioning and hydrate. Overnight lows will stay in the mid- to upper-70s.
