There is a chance of rain this afternoon and evening.
However, WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says it is a "a tricky" forecast.
He explains, "A complex of storms is moving out of Texas in our direction and will approach us by this afternoon. Right now, we do think the storms will be weakening as they arrive, so not everyone will get rain, but a few storms could hang on and produce showers and few thunderstorms this afternoon. Keep an eye on things if heading to Jazz Fest...hoping for minimal impacts!"
Malone says the highest rain chances will be after 4:00pm. The Rolling Stones take the stage at 5:00pm at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
He says the various computer models disagree about how much rain will make it to New Orleans.
Malone puts the chance at 40% today, and 50% tomorrow.
"Friday looks similar with another complex of storms diving in from Texas and weakening on its approach. I still think a few of those will reach us Friday, so plan on more showers with a few thunderstorms."
He forecasts that the weekend looks quieter with mostly dry skies.
"It will be plenty warm and humid in the upper 80s."
