Rain is forecast to fall most of the day today.
"Be ready for a cool, rainy and windy Wednesday, WWL TV meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. "The highest rain totals of around three inches should be along the coast, but inland areas like New Orleans may pick up an inch or two as well."
He says spots north of the lake can expect a half-inch to an inch of rain.
"Northeast winds will increase to near 20 mph with gusts near 40 mph."
Officials say some coastal flooding of 1-3 feet along east-facing shores will be likely through late Thursday because of the sustained northeast winds.
Temps today will be in the 60s.
"Thursday will be drier and less windy as the system races away from us to the east. Friday turns warm with spotty rain ahead of another cold front. The weekend looks cooler and nearly perfect."
