(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Illinois State Police said there was a deadly shooting on a Chicago expressway overnight.
Officers responded at 3:27 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. The incident occurred at the Paulina Street entrance ramp to the outbound Eisenhower Expressway. Paulina Street remained shut down as of 7:30 a.m., the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
“We still have personnel on the scene, processing the crime scene,” Master Sgt. Ricardo Sandoval told the Times.
A person was shot and then transported to an area hospital and then declared deceased.
According to the Illinois State Police Expressway Shooting dashboard, there were 105 expressway shootings in Cook County last year. There have been five so far this year.
Police continue to investigate. No further information is available at this time.
