(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two Chicago men were in custody following the violent strong-armed robbery of a Carol Stream phone store earlier this week, and a third suspect was at large.
DuPage County prosecutors said 28-year-old Jonathan Bullard and Diamante Williams, 24, and a third individual robbed the Metro store on Army Trail Road around 4 p.m. Monday.
Bullard allegedly shoved a T-Mobile employee up against a wall and made demands before directing the employee to open cash registers and a vault. When the employee couldn’t open the vault, Bullard punched him in the face, prosecutors said.
The robbers allegedly took 3 iPhones and $250 in cash.
Illinois State Police arrested Bullard and Williams later that day. Both are charged with robbery, and Bullard also faces one count of aggravated battery.
“It is alleged that these two men and an accomplice, traveled to DuPage County and violently robbed a business, stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise and cash,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said. “Additionally, one of the men allegedly punched an innocent man, who was trying to make an honest living, in the face. In DuPage County, we will not stand idly by and allow violent crimes, such as alleged in this case, to happen.”
A judge set bond at $350,000 for Bullard and $300,000 for Williams, Berlin’s office said.
A search continues for the third suspect.
