9 dead after tanker truck collides with van on Wisconsin highway

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Authorities in Clark County, Wisconsin, near Eau Claire, are investigating a crash that occurred Friday, killing nine people.

The Clark County Sheriff’s office said it happened at a rural intersection. A tanker truck was heading east on Highway 95.

A van was going north on County Road J. The truck slammed into the van in the intersection around 7:53 a.m.

It's unclear who was at fault. The driver of the truck and eight people in the van were killed. One person who was in the van survived after being taken to Marshfield St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The names of everyone involved are not being released at this time pending notification of family members, according to the sheriff's office.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of all those involved," Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said in a statement.
