A judge denied pretrial release to Robert Waschitz, 50, of Marengo, after he was charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with five or more prior violations, according to the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
Waschitz was pulled over at about 12:30 a.m. by Marengo police on Thursday, July 23rd after he was observed by an officer weaving in and out of a lane in a SUV and nearly striking a curb before being stopped.
He was given a breathalyzer and was over the legal limit for consumption of alcohol. He was arrested and then taken into custody.
It was revealed during the hearing that he has seven prior DUI convictions and his driving privileges are currently revoked.
A judge granted the State's petition, ordering that Waschitz remain detained pending trial.
