CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Protesters on Sunday returned to a Washington Heights motel where a 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted last fall, demanding action from police and politicians.
Following a pledge to keep protesting until more men are charged, a group gathered outside the Grand Motel on the South Side where Hope was sexually assaulted in October.
Nikki Patin, community engagement director with the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, wants Chicago police and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to outline specific plans with a timeline that will spare other young girls.
"This is a 10-year-old little girl. I don't want to hear anything about training. I don't want to hear anything about you know, holding these folks accountable. What I would love to see — what we would love to see is a definitive action plan,” Patin told WBBM Newsradio.
A fugitive task force arrested 37-year-old Samuel Brown in March but activists said there are four other men who also assaulted Hope over the years. They question why DCFS did not do more to protect her despite her being in the system for years.
WBBM is awaiting a response from Chicago police and DCFS.
