CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An alderman running for Illinois Secretary of State said Chicago’s problems with gun violence require a multi-level solution, but federal help must come first.
As a candidate for Secretary of State, David Moore champions transparency and wants to see Illinois move towards high-tech digital license plates.
But as a South Side alderman, he answers his constituents’ concerns about increasing violence. He said it requires investment in the neighborhoods, something that was lacking even when he was growing up there.
"Mothers were on public aid, fathers were coming back from the army and they couldn't be in the same household destroying families - all of this was governmentally intentional, so it has to be governmentally intentional from the national level first. Other than that, anything at the local level is a bandaid. It's a bandaid, so let's be real about that," Moore said.
Alderman David Moore, 17th Ward, is the guest on our At Issue program this weekend, and you can hear more about his run for Secretary of State on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
