MATTESON, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – Police say a food delivery driver is suspected of fatally shooting an Amazon employee after an argument outside the company's fulfillment center in south suburban Matteson.

Officers responded at about 10:54 p.m. Sunday to reports of shots fired at the Amazon facility at 7001 Vollmer Road. They arrived within about three minutes and found an employee suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso near the building's front entrance.

Officers immediately began lifesaving measures, applying a tourniquet and performing CPR until paramedics arrived. The victim was taken to St. James Hospital, where he later died.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 26-year-old Dylan Perkins of Glenwood.

According to the Matteson Police Department, detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video that showed Perkins and a food delivery driver arguing before the confrontation escalated into a minor physical altercation in the Amazon parking lot.

Police said the delivery driver then pulled out a gun and fired several shots, striking Perkins before fleeing the scene.

Investigators have not announced any arrests, and the suspect remains at large.

The shooting remains under investigation.
