CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There was a struggle over a gun late Thursday night on a CTA train platform in the South Loop.

Police said they were first called to the CTA EL station on Roosevelt Road, east of State Street, around 11 p.m. There had been a report that someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they found two men fighting over a gun on the platform.

The gun had apparently gone off, but no one was hit.

Police said it turns out the person with a gun had tried to rob the 21-year-old victim. The alleged armed robber was handcuffed and charges are pending.
