(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Minnesota based real estate nonprofit is now accepting applications for a year-long program that aims to help artists in Chicago find work spaces.
Many creatives in Chicago might struggle to find a space that's both affordable and suitable for their work.
“They're not only, kind of, their passion and their lives are dependent on space, but also their livelihoods are dependent on that space. And sometimes it's really hard to find things that are specific.”
Anna Grocott with Artspace Immersion says that's why the nonprofit is bringing Artspace Immersion to Chicago next year for a second time to focus on ten arts organizations.
“We bring them through a 12 month process of workshops and of tackling each of the six main components of planning for space,” Grocott said.
The program previously served organizations in cities like Minneapolis, Memphis and Washington DC.
“So many people talk about how they feel much more sustainable or kind of solid in their whole organizational approach to how they're going to operate in the coming years.”
Two information sessions will take place in the coming weeks. Applications for the program are due on June 20.
To register for the information sessions or for more information about the program, visit the Artspace Immersion website.
