Next week when you set your clocks back, put the time to good use by checking your credit reports.

It’s a good idea to check your credit reports at least twice a year.

Look for discrepancies and make sure no one has fraudulently opened an account in your name.

Get free credit reports from the three major agencies, TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax, by visiting FTC.gov.

And unless you’re applying for credit or a major loan – you can freeze your credit for free, and then thaw it anytime.

Also, if you’re a parent, be sure to check your children’s credit, because scammers can open phony accounts on their behalf that can go undetected for years.
