Shooting at Blue Island bar's outdoor patio leaves 1 dead, another in critical condition: Police

BLUE ISLAND (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police in Blue Island continue to investigate this weekend’s early morning shooting that left one person dead and another seriously wounded.

Police said officers responded to a report of gunshots at the Forge Pub on 137th Street, near Homan, at around 1 a.m. Sunday. At the scene, officers found two gunshot victims at the pub’s outdoor patio. One of the victims, 33-year-old Berthony Meus, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to Christ Hospital and remains in critical condition, Blue Island police said.

Investigators believe the victims were involved in a fight prior to the shooting. Blue Island police also noted that this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the community.

No one is currently in custody and police are urging anyone with information to call the Blue Island Police Bureau of Investigations at (708)396-7020.
