CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Brookfield Zoo is among the many employers having trouble finding workers this summer.
So, the suburban zoo is holding a job fair Saturday afternoon and offering cash bonuses to new workers.
The zoo needs to fill a wide variety of jobs including food service, retail, custodians, landscapers, call center workers and tram operators.
The general manager of food and retail operations, Brad Robertson, said the zoo usually hires all the workers it needs for the summer by May or June.
No so this year. To encourage more people to apply, the zoo is offering $100 bonuses to new workers when they hit 120 hours.
The bonuses are also being offered to any employee who recruits someone else to take a job at the zoo.
