(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Calumet City man faces federal drug charges after authorities say they seized equipment that’s used to make counterfeit opioids.

In a federal complaint against 51-year-old Troy Clark, prosecutors said they seized a pill press — equipment that’s used to compress pharmaceutical powder into tablet form.

Agents also seized fentanyl, a potentially lethal component in counterfeit tablets, prosecutors said.

Clark reportedly told agents he ordered some of the pill-making equipment for a friend, but he denied having fentanyl.

Also in the inventory federal authorities say they found: a humidifier. Authorities say higher levels of humidity “can help bind pill powder” into tablet form.

Clark was arrested Tuesday. His detention hearing is next week.
