Calumet City mayor quarantines with mild COVID symptoms: spokesman

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The mayor of south suburban Calumet City is in quarantine at home, after testing positive Friday for COVID-19.

Calumet City spokesman Sean Howard said Mayor Thaddeus Jones, who is also the state representative for the 29th District, has mild symptoms. He was fully vaccinated, Howard said.

Jones began a 14-day quarantine at home, after which he'll get tested again for COVID before returning to city hall and his legislative office, Howard said.

The news about the Calumet City mayor after the mayor and deputy mayor of Gary Indiana announced they tested positive for COVID and would be working remotely from home while in quarantine.

They also say their symptoms are mild.
