CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two bodies were pulled from the Des Plaines River following a car crash Sunday morning.

Illinois State Police said two people were found dead near a car that rolled into the water after hitting a tree.

According to ISP, Riverside and Lyons police officers were called to the scene of a crash on Barrypoint Road in Lyons around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said the car appeared to have left the roadway, struck the tree, and tumbled into the Des Plaines River.

Authorities found the car about 500 yards downstream from the crash site, but there was no sign of the driver. Police said they do not believe that the driver was ejected from the vehicle in the crash.

The body of a man was found shortly after the car was discovered. Later Sunday evening, a woman's body was recovered from the water as well.

Authorities have not released the names of either person found.
