CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A quiet voice in Chicago music has died.
Chess Records, at 2120 South Michigan, is one of the most legendary record labels in Chicago history, and all of American music.
Gerald Sims, a former Chess session guitarist has died. Sims played on many hits, including Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher.”
There was also, among others, the Fontella Bass classic, "Rescue Me.”
Sims grew up in Chicago and, at one point, owned the Chess Records building which is now a museum of music and memories.
Gerald Sims was 83.
