(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Blue Angels will return to Chicago’s lakefront for the 2024 Air and Water Show in August, and this year, the popular summer show will take to the skies one week earlier than normal.

The Navy’s Blue Angels and the Army’s Golden Knights parachute team are the headliners for this year’s show, after the Blue Angels did not perform in the 2023 Chicago show. New performers include: pilot RJ Gritter, who does stunts in his Decathlon 150 C-S; and the Trojan Phlyers, a group that flies two T-28B aircraft.

In announcing the lineup for the 65th show, Mayor Brandon Johnson said they’re “thrilled to again welcome the roar of the jets and millions of spectators to the lakefront for part of the quintessential Chicago summer experience.”

The city moved up the event by a week so as not to conflict with the Democratic National Convention.

Shows will take place Aug. 10 – 11, from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Fullerton Avenue and Oak Street.

The event will be carried live on WBBM Newsradio.
