(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago's hybrid Board of Education is completed after a month-long wait.
Mayor Brandon Johnson announced that Cydney Wallace, a South Side Native and CPS parent, will represent a portion of the 8th district – completing the city's first-ever, hybrid school board.
Wallace works in the City Clerk's Office and is a board member for the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs.
Chicago voters elected ten members of the Board of Education and the Mayor appointed 11.
In a press release the mayor said the South Side native is a dedicated wife and mother of four who is committed to uplifting her community.
Johnson also said this transition marks a new era for public education.
