CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Talk about serendipity. In the midst of a blistering heat wave, the Chicago Park District has opened its outdoor pools for the summer season.
Beginning today, nearly 50 outdoor pools will be open. Many of the Park District’s indoor pools will still be available as well. The pool season will run through Labor Day, Sept. 2.
Operating hours will mostly be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the majority of pools open on the weekends.
Open-swim sessions are free to the public.
The Park District notes that most pools do feature ADA stairs, pool lifts and zero-depth entry, however some parks that have pool lifts might be limited with direct wheelchair access.
