CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Swimmers looking to do laps in Chicago public pools will have fewer choices after Sunday since the Chicago Park District is closing 10 pools for the season.
It's last call for swimming and Altgeld Park, Avondale, Cornell Square, Grand Crossing, Oakdale, Russell Square Park, Sherman, Union Park, Wentworth Gardens and Wrightwood pools.
The Chicago Park District already closed Palmer Park pool last week.
Some 40 outdoor public pools remain open five days a week through Labor Day, with indoor pools reopening the following day.
Those had been closed this summer because of a shortage of lifeguards.
