
The Chicago Police Department has released video from the fatal shooting at the 79th Street CTA Red Line station, which took place on June 15.

Surveillance footage begins at 2:15 p.m. with the offender parking a dark-colored SUV in a nearby alley. After parking, the suspect walks from the alley to the entrance of the CTA station, at which point the shooter opens fire at an out-of-view victim.
The victim, a 46-year-old man, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in extremely critical condition. He was declared dead at the hospital.

Recently, the head of the CTA bus drivers’ union called for a transit stoppage in the wake of violence on Chicago’s buses and trains.
