Chicago Uber and Lyft rides will start to cost more in certain areas starting Tuesday as part of a new "congestion tax."

The tax is in effect between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. seven days a week and is dependent on where you're dropped off and picked up.

For every ride in the newly defined "Congestion Zones," the city will be tacking on an additional $1.50 per vehicle per ride.

According to map provided by the city, "Zone 1" covers a large portion of downtown and stretches from Pilsen to 31st Street Beach and then along the lake to near Andersonville. "Zone 2" runs from East 60th Street, to South Cottage Grove and East Hyde Park Boulevard.
