(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has donated $6.6 million to the Chicago Urban League, one of many across the country to receive a gift from the billionaire.Freeman-Wilson said the donation didn’t come with any directives, but it is a one-time gift.
President and CEO Karen Freeman-Wilson says they’ll use the money to add programming, like the job training they offer for solar panel installers.
She says the donation is the largest in the organization’s more than a century of work. It will also help complete what she calls significant construction on the organization’s Bronzeville building as well as bonuses and training for staffers.
