MEMPHIS, TENN. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago blues legend John Primer has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.

He followed the path of many others.  Arriving in Chicago from Mississippi in 1963 at the age of 18, he would get his start playing at the old Maxwell Street.  And, he would later play guitar with Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Magic Slim, Junior Wells, James Cotton and Buddy Guy, among others.

He’s still at it, leading the “Real Deal Blues Band.”

The other inductees of Blues Hall of Fame Class of 2023 are Carey Bell, Junior Kimbrough, Esther Phillips, Snooky Prior, Josh White and Fenton Robinson.

The induction ceremony takes place in Memphis on May 10.
