(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An Evanston middle school student was referred to the juvenile court system after he allegedly brought a loaded gun to summer camp Friday.
The child was attending an outdoor camp at Evanston Township High School and notified a camp staffer that he had a weapon when he arrived around 8:30 a.m., officials said.
Staffers took the weapon and notified police.
Evanston Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said his department has the handgun. The boy reportedly was referred to juvenile court for Unlawful Use of a Weapon on School Grounds.
No one was injured.
