Child killed, 5 others seriously hurt after SUV flips on I-57: ISP

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A crash Monday night on I-57, on Chicago’s Far South Side, left a child dead and five other people injured.

Illinois State Police said an SUV was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash on inbound I-57, near 107th Street. It occurred at about 7:15 p.m.

The SUV took out a light pole and came to rest upside down. A rear tire was missing.  It’s unclear if a blow-out may have caused the driver to lose control.

One child was killed.

Three other children were seriously injured. Two were reported to be in serious-to-critical condition, the third was listed in grave condition.

Two adults were also in serious-to-critical condition.

State Police are investigating.
