CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Happy September, Chicago! While some may see Labor Day Weekend as the "unofficial" end of summer, we technically have a few more weeks of summer left, as the first day of fall is not until Sept. 22.
On that note, I have the perfect drink this week, as we slowly transition from summer to fall.
This drink I call the Simply Beehive. I discovered it while vacationing in Banff, Canada a few years ago at Park Distillery and I figured out a way to make a simpler version at home that requires less ingredients and less work (because you aren't going to muddle blueberries, just for yourself right?)
The Simply Beehive only requires three ingredients: vanilla vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, and blueberry lemonade. I use Simply Blueberry Lemonade, hence the name!
Some may consider it a summer drink, but I've made it at different gatherings throughout the year and it's always a hit!
Who's ready to mix things up?
Ingredients:
• 3 oz. of Vanilla Vodka
• 1.5 oz. of St. Germain
• Blueberry Lemonade (I prefer to use Simply Blueberry Lemonade)
• Blueberries for garnish (optional)
Directions:
1. Fill a glass with ice
2. Add 3 oz. of Vanilla Vodka to your glass
3. Add 1.5 oz of St. Germain to your glass
4. Fill the rest of the glass with blueberry lemonade
5. Stir and top with blueberries for garnish
6. Enjoy!
Note: The cocktail is stirred instead of shaken for people who want to use a bigger glass and add more lemonade to taste. You can also cut the amount of Vanilla Vodka and St. Germain in half if using a smaller glass, like a lowball glass.
