The National Weather Service on Tuesday is forecasting that an Arctic Outbreak will lead to colder temperatures for the first half of January for much of the U.S., including the Chicago area.
On Tuesday, the Chicago area will see patches of light rain and some snow, but with temperatures above freezing – no snow accumulation is expected.
Accuweather meteorologist Kerry Schwindenhammer says that some slick spots could develop later Tuesday night – especially towards midnight – as temperatures drop and the rain that feel during the day begins to freeze.
An overnight low of 26 degrees is expected.
