Incumbent Congressman Bill Foster beats challenger for 11th district seat

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Incumbent Illinois Congressman Bill Foster will hold on to his seat-representing the 11th district.

He received more than 55% of the vote while challenger Catalina Lauf received slightly over 44%, according to the Associated Press.

Foster, who is a scientist and businessman, assumed office in 2013. He also represented the 14th District from 2008 to 2010. Foster has pushed for the Brandon Road Lock and Dam project near Joliet to control the Asian carp population.

Lauf served as an advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce after President Trump appointed her in 2018. Before that, she worked for Uber. Lauf has pushed for the Republican Party to reach out to African American and Latino communities.
