CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Leading Conservatives in Chicago say new Mayor Brandon Johnson's union ties give them some concerns about his leadership.
Matt Paprocki, President of the Illinois Policy institute, is concerned about how former Chicago Teachers Union organizer, Brandon Johnson, will handle education issues as mayor.
"The concern that I have- it's not a union issue. It is specifically the Chicago Teachers Union, who now runs this administration with Brandon is the focus isn't about kids."
Ted Dabrowski, Pesident of the conservative group Wire Points notes that more than 90% of the mayor's campaign money came from organized labor.
"Brandon Johnson, as a candidate took the money. He got elected. Now he he's gonna have to answer to them," he said. "The question is gonna be as Matt said, you know, what are his actions?"
The new mayor has previously said that he takes the perspective of a parent, because his children are Chicago Public Schools students, so it's personal.
