(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago's police oversight agency has just released body-worn camera footage and other materials from a shooting by officers back in October in West Ridge.
Police shot and wounded a man who they say had just shot a 39-year-old orthodox Jewish man as he walked to synagogue and fired on first responders who came to help.
The video from the Civilian Office of Police Accountability shows officers firing at 22-year-old Sidi Mohammad Abdullahi, who can also be seen returning shots.
CONTENT WARNING: The unedited video below shows the arrest of Abdullahi on Oct. 26, 2024. It contains graphic language and violence. All of COPA’s materials pertaining to this arrest may be found online.
Abdullahi killed himself while at the Cook County Jail late last month before he could face charges.
Prosecutors announced hate crime and terrorism charges against the suspected shooter in addition to six counts of attempted first-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm toward a police officer or firefighter, and one count of aggravated battery.
