CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago couple who won a lottery for Cook County’s first marriage license of the year married this morning in the Loop.
It was a wedding ceremony that one couple experiences each year, tying the knot in front of members of the press in the Clerk’s office.
Former Judge Travis Richardson, chief legal counsel for the Clerk’s Office, officiated as Angelica Rodriguez and Alvonso Arroyo got married.
They said they met at a bus stop by Navy Pier. He told her she looked pretty, and now here they were, married with a two month-old son.
“As I took her today as my wife, she knows that I will cherish her and love her forever,” Alvonso said.
There was a minor mishap when they toasted one another with sparkling grape juice. A little went down the front of Angelica’s dress.
“When I received the phone call, ‘you won the lottery,’ I was like, ‘oh.’ I just didn’t believe it,” Angelica said.
