CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A COVID-19 testing company under investigation pauses operation, dozens of their testing clinics are in the Chicago area.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is investigating complaints filed against the Center for COVID Control. Clients have complained about missing test results.

Consumers who have had a bad experience with any of the COVID testing clinics operated by the Center for COVID Control are urged to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General’s office.

A federal oversight agency has flagged the laboratory used by the company for non-compliance and deficiencies. The Better Business Bureau has given the company an F rating as well.

Block Club, in first reporting this, indicated that thousands of COVID tests have been wasted by Center for COVID Control due to improper handling.

The company has since paused operations, blaming the issues on unprecedented demand for testing and in a statement said the clinics will remain closed until they are confident all collection sites are meeting their own high standards for quality and until the company has had a chance to regroup and add more staff.
