(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two female detainees at the DuPage County Jail died in their cells this week, and county officials said both cases are under investigation.

One of the women was Crystal Blagaich, 42, who was found dead in her cell on Friday morning.

She had a history of IV drug use, according to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. She was last seen alert and awake an hour earlier, when she was given oral medication for drug withdrawal.

Officials said deputies gave her several doses of Narcan, performed CPR, and used a defibrillator on her before paramedics arrived.

Blagaich was initially arrested by Elmhurst Police, and the jail refused to take her until an infected wound on her leg was treated.

The sheriff’s office said she had a body scan when she was processed on Thursday night, which detected no drugs.

An autopsy failed to immediately determine the cause of death.

The other detainee who died at the jail was 50-year-old Reneyda Aguilar-Hurtado. She was found on Monday.

Aguilar-Hurtado had been on medical watch after being found sitting in a pool of vomit. Officials said she refused medical attention.

She was found unfit for trial on misdemeanor battery charges and was being transferred for a mental health evaluation and treatment.

Her cause of death is also unknown.
