A number of local organizations gathered in downtown Chicago Saturday afternoon to protest the leaked U.S. Supreme Court draft opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Democratic US Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have been calling for Congress to codify an abortion law nationally that would provide similar prohibitions on state anti-abortion laws outlined in the original Roe v. Wade decision.

"I hope that we as people here right now can use our voice and then have an echo to legislation, things like that. I mean, I know that we're protected in this state, but I want everybody in America, and if we can, in the world to be protected," said a protestor names Hannah.

In Chicago among abortion rights activist packing Federal Plaza, Hannah tells WBBM that there needs to be continued pressure on national legislators.

"These are our reproductive rights, and I don't see any laws going against men and males. So why have laws go against us and what we should and should not do with our body?" she said.

Chants of "Our body our rights" were met by counter protesters who said the bodies of unborn children should have the same rights as the women carrying them.
