Warning: Fake web site is masquerading as treasurer's payment portal

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Paying your taxes online? Be careful if you live in Kane County.

Authorities say there is a fake website masquerading as the Kane County Treasurer's website.

The authentic site has Treasurer Chris Lauzen pictured in the upper left, among other features.

The fake site uses the word "treasure" in the address.

Kane County Sheriff's investigators are looking into the fake site. Anyone with information is asked to call (630) 444-1103.
