(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A western Illinois jury convicted Timothy Bliefnick — a former contestant on Family Feud — of first-degree murder and home invasion in the killing of his estranged wife Rebecca Bliefnick on Wednesday.
The Adams County Circuit Court jury in Quincy deliberated about four hours after Timothy Bliefnick, 40, did not testify and the defense did not call any evidence. Adams County sheriff's deputies took Bliefnick into custody immediately after the verdict was read.
Officials said it happened on Feb. 23, 2023, when he shot Rebecca Bliefnick, 39, multiple times. A family member found Bliefnick’s body inside of her Quincy home after she never showed up to take her children home from school.
Police arrested Timothy Bliefnick on March 13 after searching his home earlier in the month.
In 2020, Bliefnick appeared on the game show Family Feud with some of his family members. During the episode, one of the questions that host Steve Harvey asked was: “What was the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?”
“I do,” Bliefnick answered.
He added: “Not mine to say, not mine to say. I love my wife.”
In 2021, Adams County court records showed that Bliefnick and his wife started going through a divorce. Later that year, Timothy and Rebecca each filed protection orders against one another. Both protection orders were denied, records show.
Timothy Bliefnick’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 11, 2023, at 1:30 p.m.
