Father of 4 accused in fatal Lincoln Square stabbing

A 35-year-old man is expected in court later Tuesday accusing of fatally stabbing his wife over the weekend in Lincoln Square.

Nurmuhammed Inus, 35, is charged with first-degree murder, police said, after he allegedly fatally stabbed Mairunnisa B. Osman, 29, late Saturday night.

Osman’s 12-year-old daughter met with responding police officers and told police Inus, her dad, fled in a blue 2016 Honda after he stabbed her mother and fled during a fight, according to a police report.

Inus then contacted relatives and told them he was “on his way to the nearest police station to turn himself in,” the report said.

He was arrested at 11:58 p.m. Saturday at the 20th District police station, the report said.

Osman, found in her room with a knife in her torso, died of multiple sharp force injuries, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Osman was pronounced dead Sunday at 12:13 a.m. at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston and the death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

The couple have three other daughters, under the age of 10, according to the report.
