CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A dentist from Rochester in Central Illinois has been named in a 20-count federal indictment for allegedly repeatedly tampering with a drug used as an anesthesia.

61-year-old Phillip Jensen repeatedly removed fentanyl from vials before surgeries and replaced it with another substance, according to the indictment.

It alleged he was setting aside the drug for his personal use and on some occasions distributed the drug outside the scope of his medical practice.
It also alleged that Jensen administered the fentanyl he adulterated to one  patient which resulted in serious bodily injury. He’s allegedly been doing this for nearly two years.

Jensen’s charged with drug diversion, which means obtaining or using prescription drugs illegally, as well as acquiring a controlled substance by fraud, tampering with consumer products and making false statements.
