Feds offer $10,000 reward to track down Chicago fugitive

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of a fugitive involved in an alleged murder-for hire plot in Chicago.

It happened nearly a year ago. Last January, 24-year-old Stephon Mack was leaving the Youth Peace Center in the city's Roseland neighborhood when two men got out of a car, firing shots his direction.

The bullets killed Mack and hit a security guard from the center, who survived.

According to an indictment, it was murder-for-hire. The FBI says one of the men who fired a gun is in custody, while 23-year-old Preston Powell of Chicago still has an active warrant out for his arrest.

The FBI said Powell is considered armed and dangerous. They are offering $10,000 for information that leads to his arrest.
