Fire truck, ambulance struck in two separate accidents

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two emergency vehicles were hit in separate accidents last night in Chicago.

Chicago police said in both cases, a driver ran a red light. The first incident happened at around 11:25 in West Town. Police said a driver hit an ambulance near Noble and Chicago Avenue.

A passenger in the ambulance was hospitalized with a broken clavicle and the driver was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries. About five minutes later, police said a driver blew a red light near 79th and Prairie hitting the back of a fire truck.

The engine flipped on its side sending five firefighters and the driver of the car to the hospital in good condition. Both drivers were ticketed.
