CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Are you in the mood for a scare? There are several places around Chicago you can visit if you are looking for paranormal activity.

Chicago is a city with a rich history, and some say that ghosts still linger from some parts of that history.

Here are five places to check out for some spine-tingling thrills this Halloween season.

Hull-House

The Hull-House, a famous social settlement founded in-part by Jane Addams located at 800 S. Halsted Street, “is known as one of the most haunted places both in Chicago and the United States,” according to the Hull-House Museum.

For the month of October, the Hull-House museum is hosting an event series to highlight the supernatural lore surrounding the historic site, the effects they had back in the days of Jane Addams, and the effects that have continued to this day.

One of the most famous stories is that of the “Devil Baby,” who is said to have been a baby with hooves, pointed ears and a tail that was brought to the Hull-House.

If you dare visit the haunted location, it is open to the public for a suggested donation of $5 Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4:50 p.m.,  and Sunday, from noon to 4:50 p.m.

The Drake Hotel

The regal hotel that stands on the edge of the Gold Coast is well known for its place in high society, but also for its ghosts. The tale of the Lady in Red, who died at the opening night reception and now haunts the reception hall, is one of the most famous tales from the hotel.

As the story goes, the lady in a red dress found her fiancé with another woman on the opening night of the hotel. Upon finding the two together, she threw herself from their 10th floor suite. She is said to be haunting the 10th floor.

There is also the story of the Lady in Black, who famously haunts the eighth floor. As the urban legend goes, the Lady in Black is the killer of socialite Adele Born Williams. Williams was shot in her hotel room by a woman who was wearing a black fur coat.

While a suspect was never arrested, the legend is that the Lady in Black who haunts the eighth floor is the killer.

The hotel plays a bit into its haunted history with a more light-hearted Spooky Afternoon Tea service in the iconic Palmer Room. The tea runs through Oct. 29 on Thursdays and Sundays.

The Drake is not the only haunted hotel to be featured on this list. The Congress Hotel on Michigan Avenue is also one with many haunted tales.

The eighth floor appears to be a popular location for hauntings, as it is reported that the elevator at the Congress Hotel sometimes makes unplanned stops on that floor.

There is also a famous ghost who is rumored to be roaming the halls,. That would be the ghost of mob boss Al Capone.

Holy Name Cathedral

The Holy Name Cathedral on North State Street also has a supernatural connection to the mob. The cathedral sits across from the site where gangster Dean O’Banion was killed. This led to a war between gangs that lasted for five years.

The cathedral was the site of one of these battles, and it is said that a bullet hole on the side of the building has never been able to be filled or repaired.

Lincoln Park

While Lincoln Park serves as an outdoor oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city, it is also the location of a few supernatural hauntings. So much so that it is the subject of its own ghost tour.

Lincoln Park is the site of Chicago's only public ghost hunting tour, which visits spots like where the St. Valentine's Day Massacre occurred and the location of the original City Cemetery.

On the hunt, you will look for the ghosts at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Legend is that the old living quarters near the entrance are haunted.
