ROLLING MEADOWS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Former Bears kicker Robbie Gould is entering the coaching profession.

The franchise’s all-time leading scorer has become the head football coach at Rolling Meadows High School, according to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times.

Gould, 41, recently announced his retirement from the NFL. He finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers.

Gould spent his first 11 seasons kicking for the Bears and was a member of the franchise’s last squad that competed in a Super Bowl.

His journey to professional football was one of persistence. He went undrafted out of Penn State and was cut by the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots before landing a tryout with the Bears.

Despite being released by the Bears in 2016, Gould maintained a residence in the Chicago area. He often expressed interest about a coaching career.

Rolling Meadows, a member of the Mid-Suburban League, most recently competed in IHSA Class 7A and had a 2-7 record in 2023.

WBBM's Josh Liss contributed to this report.
