(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A former school bus driver in Northwest Indiana has been charged for allegedly operating a bus on heroin.
Kayla Pier, 38, has been charged with two felonies for allegedly being on heroin while recklessly transporting dozens of LaPorte, Indiana middle and elementary school students in the fall.
According to court documents, Pier was acting oddly to students, falling asleep and slurring her words while driving. It's said she even ran a stop sign.
School administrators removed the 38-year-old from the bus, and she later resigned.
Court records show a drug test revealed the presence of heroin in her system.
She was released from jail after posting bond.
