(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A former Republican candidate for Illinois governor appears to be considering another political run.

Politico reports state Sen. Darren Bailey of Xenia recently met with former President Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort to discuss running for Congress against GOP incumbent Mike Bost in the 12th District downstate.

The former president publicly endorsed Bailey in the race against Democrat JB Pritzker but has also backed Bost in the past.

Bailey, from his party’s conservative wing, emerged from a crowded gubernatorial primary but fell to Priztker on a margin of 55% to 42%.
