(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – David Roe – a familiar voice for decades in the Chicago media landscape before his 2018 retirement – is being remembered by his colleagues at WBBM Newsradio as a stalwart professional.
Roe, a Yorkville resident, passed away Saturday after a battle with esophageal cancer. He was 71.
The Denver native worked for 35 years at WBBM Newsradio and was an evening anchor in the years leading up to his retirement. Roe was also a shop steward for the SAG-AFTRA union that represents on-air talent.

“He was known for his quick wit, boastful laugh, and kind and compassionate spirit,” his family says in an obituary marking his passing.
A visitation is planned for 9:30 a.m. Saturday Jan. 27 at Oswego Presbyterian Church. A memorial service follows at 11 a.m.; interment will be private.
