CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Fr. Michael Pfleger has been reinstated to his position of senior pastor at Saint Sabina Church, the Chicago Archdiocese announced Saturday.

Pfleger had been accused of sexually abusing a child twice during the late 1980s. The latest allegations came less than two years after Pfleger was separately accused of child sexual abuse.

In a letter to members of Saint Sabina Church, Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich said an internal review board concluded that there is no reason to suspect Pfleger was "guilty of the allegations."

Cupich wrote that Pfleger is being reinstated, effective immediately.

“I want to recognize that these months have taken a great toll on Fr. Mike and all of you,” Cupich wrote.

The Archbishop added that he wants to do everything he can to “restore [Pfleger’s] good name.”

Cupich has asked that the announcement be read to all Masses this weekend.
